On Sunday 17th October some 60 members and guests assembled at Alderson House in Warwick to absorb themselves in excellent Mediterranean Fare at our latest social event.
With a starting board of charcuterie, dips, crudites, hot chicken wings, olives, and feta cheese the standard was set for what followed. 3 delicious types of meat, salads, and hot new potatoes. Washed down with the wines provided by the Worshipful Master on this his last social event before handing over the Chair.
Finishing the dining with an excellent lemon tart and profiteroles in chocolate sauce everyone was extremely well catered for, and our grateful thanks were given to Peter and his team.
Given that this was WM’s last Social after two years in the Chair; where he has managed to host a Sunday Lunch in March 2020, followed by 3 virtual socials, Trafalgar Night 2020, Burns Night in January 2021, and the Triple Anniversary in April and then a very successful live Pig Roast in September it has meant the Lodge has managed to meet regularly on a social basis. This helped the Lodge to raise over £10,000 in Charity monies.
As the Lockdown prevented the holding of a Ladies Festival the members still gave their contributions for a gift to the Master’s lady, Irene, which was presented by Brother Paul Tuckley. The gift was a high-quality watch and Irene gave her sincere thanks to the brethren for their generosity.
The raffle, very well organised by Vikki Hart, once again surpassed all expectations raising the magnificent sum of £400. This will be added to the Trafalgar Night Charity and Auction and the proceeds shared between the 2022 Festival and the WM’s chosen charity the Special Boat Service Association.
